Common Questions
2D is the standard type of ultrasound recommended for babies 20 weeks or younger, used for gender determination. 3D captures clear images of the baby's features, best for later pregnancy when the baby has more fat on their face. 4D is simply 3D ultrasound captured live in motion, allowing you to see the baby smile, yawn, and move in real-time.
Ultrasounds have been used for over 40 years and according to the FDA, there have been no proven side effects from its proper use. There is no radiation involved when using sonography.
It depends on when you wish to see your baby. Earlier in pregnancy (14-26 weeks) you can see more of the whole body and the baby is often moving quite a bit. Mid pregnancy the baby is growing and you can better see facial features. Later pregnancy (28-34 weeks) will show a full-faced baby with chubby hands and feet. Many mothers like coming in twice for the complete experience.
Our sonographers are trained to determine gender and our accuracy rate is very high. We have accurately been able to determine gender as early as 14 weeks. If for any reason we cannot determine gender, we invite you back for a complimentary return visit.
We do not require a release form by your doctor for our elective ultrasound exams. However, we do insist that you are under the care of a doctor or midwife. You will need to sign our waiver with your healthcare provider's information.
As many as you'd like, our sectional comfortably seats about 8, but more can fit in the room.
